We are pleased to announce that the Cellosaurus RDF dataset has been newly added to RDF Portal.
Cellosaurus is a comprehensive knowledge resource on cell lines used in biomedical research. It is developed by the CALIPHO group at the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. Cellosaurus covers a wide range of cell lines, including immortalized and finite-life cell lines, stem cell lines, and cell lines derived from vertebrates, invertebrates, and plants.
Each cell line is assigned a unique Cellosaurus accession number and is described with curated information such as recommended names and synonyms, species of origin, anatomical sites and cell types, disease associations, donor characteristics, genetic alterations, STR profiles, publications, and cross-references to cell banks, biological databases, and ontologies. Cellosaurus also provides important information on problematic cell lines, including those reported to be contaminated or misidentified.
The RDF representation structures these diverse data using the Cellosaurus ontology and connects cell lines to established biological identifiers, databases, and ontologies. The addition of Cellosaurus RDF to RDF Portal enables users to search and analyze cell-line information using SPARQL and facilitates integration with other life science RDF datasets, including resources describing diseases, genes, organisms, tissues, and cell types.
